Kathleen Madigan studied bacteria in college, earning a degree in biology, then chucked the laboratory life, learned Russian and set off for Moscow to work at the American Embassy. After a short stint as a freelance editor at Allen Press International in Russia, she traveled extensively in South Africa, Morocco, France, Switzerland, Spain and Ireland before popping two kids and rooting in Nashville. She logged many busy years as a mom before beginning work as a visual artist in textiles and mixed media, exhibiting in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Spain, Senegal, Nashville and soon North Carolina. Kathleen enjoys writing in her free time, weighing in on her three great passions: art, traveling and food, particularly Slow Food and the pleasures of eating locally produced, organic fare. She's developing recipes for her gluten-free, dairy-free cookbook and budding local bakery, experimenting on her neighbors and looking forward to opening for business in the fall.
